Tommy was one such fellow. He always got on really well with all the Irish lads at shows, and I've been a massive fan of his work for years. I actually have a beautiful Indiana Jones original that Tommy did for Lucasfilm ('Twas a wedding gift from Dec Shalvey and Will Sliney, gentlemen both) hanging on my bedroom wall.
Tommy agreed to join in straight away, said he'd be delighted to help a pal out with a 'sketch' cover.
To say i was ecstatic... well, I was ecstatic. Presently, little snippets of the piece began arriving on tommy's twitter feed (@Tommyleeedwards). Aaand... holy crap.
To say I'm excited about seeing the final piece would be one HELL of a bloody understatement. I mean, man oh man. That brushwork nearly makes me want to weep. I feel such immense gratitude to Tommy (as well as some other as-yet unrevealed cover-buddies) for helping the little guy out like this when they had no real need to. Just to be a pal. Incredible, eh?
THIS is the sense of fun and anticipation that I hoped working on my own book in a genre I adored would bring. I honestly haven't been this giddy about anything since I fell in love with my wife. Whom I would possibly trade for this cover. Just pure JOY.
I'll post the final image once I get it from Tommy. Whooo-boy.

Sweet stuff, Mooney, To say I'm looking forward to this book would also be an understatement, or something.
Ha, cheers Paddy!
That looks fantastic. Will the cover be in B/W?
I don't actually know yet! He's trying to keep me in suspense, the bastard.
If anything is worth waiting for, it's that!!!

Man, my house is full of originals and prints, Pete. The wife likes all of that good stuff too, thankfully!
